Hi lenix,

I happy to see that I am not the only one with strange problems getting flash properly working. I also had some bad headaches finding what was wrong with linux environnement dependencies...

I didn't encountered the problems you had and I am curious about which linux-base you are using. I wrote this tutorial using FreeBSD-8.0 Beta 4 and linux_base-f10, are you using the same linux environnement / FreeBSD version ?

Anyway, thanks for sharing your experience =)

Hi,

flashplugin gave me some headache, first the port didn't manage to find a download for "libflashsupport.so", i had to fetch it manually from a freebsd-mirror site which wasn't in the list of mirrors to try (ftp://ftp.tw.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/ports/distfiles/flashplugin/9.0r48/).

next to this i had no sound in flash. when i started firefox from xterm and tried to watch some youtube-video i got tons of errors starting with "ALSA lib ...". running the command "/compat/linux/bin/sh /usr/bin/ldd /usr/lib/libflashsupport.so" unveiled that the required library "libcom_err.so.2" was missing in my "linux_base-fc6". after i installed "ftp://ftp.nluug.nl/pub/os/Linux/distr/fedora/linux/core/6/i386/os/Fedora/RPMS/e2fsprogs-libs-1.39-7.i386.rpm" by hand (inside the linux-environment of course) flash is working just fine :-)

thanks for your tutorial, lenix
